Version 3.0.0 is a major upgrade of the Photoshop Plug-In. It is now possible to process very large images. Introduction of multithreading utilizes the power of multicore processors. Moreover new options allow for more control over the tone mapping process.

The user documentation can be found at http://www.fdrtools.com/documentation/compress_dynamic_range_e.php

This update is free of charge for registered users.

Final Changes:

Bugs fixed:
  • Windows: window buttons were missing.
  • Added tooltip translations to program.
  • Completed the user documentation.

Changes Beta4:

Bugs fixed:
  • Exiting the plug-in via the 'Close' button or 'Esc' button hangs up Photoshop. (thanks to Hanno Keppel)
  • OS X 10.6: due to an API change the plug-in does not start up anymore but hangs up Photoshop. (thanks to Hanno Keppel)

Changes Beta3:

New or changed functionality:
  • The 'Postprocessing' functionality has been extended: axes have meaningful scaling; tone mapped range can be zoomed by dragging the black/white point knots; curve settings don't get lost after tone mapping parameter adjustments.

Bugs fixed:
  • Enabling all panorama settings ("360 Panorama", "Zenith", "Nadir") and adjusting black point could result in a too bright looking Nadir.
  • Changing the color profile of a 8/16 bit image could result in too bright or too dark looking image because of false luminance calculation.
  • If the image scaling factor is below 100 when calling the plug-in then the crop rectangle in Navigator is falsely sized.
  • The plug-in requires read access rights to all the color profiles of the system. Missing read rights resulted in a crash.

Changes Beta2:

Bugs fixed:
  • Panorama geometry settings ("360 Panorama", "Zenith", "Nadir") are working again.
  • If an 8 bit or 16 bit image with overexposed areas was processed the plug-in showed these overexposed pixels in red/green/blue instead of white (thanks to Gerhard Obermayr).
  • In some cases there was a huge visual difference between 'Navigator' and 'Preview' (thanks to Richard Sisk).
  • In 32 bit mode it could happen that highlights were clipped, i.e. areas with proper details in the HDR image were tone mapped to white.
  • OS X: the "last filter" function in Photoshop resulted in a crash with the FDRCompressor filter.
  • OS X: changing the color profile to a non RGB profile crashed the plug-in. All improper profiles have been excluded from the menu.

Changes Beta1:

New or changed functionality:
  • Ability to process very large images.
  • Support for multicore processors / multiprocessor systems.
  • New controls broaden the tone mapping options and allow for more precise adjustments.
